Grand Plan

I’m the director and co-founder of Grand Plan. The charity supports artists of colour across the UK with £1,000 grants to take a leap with their creative practice. So far, we’ve backed more than 150 artists with grants.

Level G Programme

A new public programme for the Barbican, sited within the arts centre’s central foyers. The series of festivals, events, installations and internventions was intended to nurture space for cultural production beyond traditional art form disciplines. Here’s the 2021 season, for example.

Barbican Incubator

The Barbican Incubator was a hybrid research, strategy and programming team (comprising Laura Whitticase, Razia Jordan, Shoubhik Bandopadhyay, Kirsten Alfaro, and me) charged with working across the arts centre to initiate and implement the kind of activity sited in the organisation’s grey areas, e.g. public programming, evaluation, contested spaces, etc.

Soundhouse
A temporary ‘cinema for listening’ in the heart of the Barbican’s foyers, curated by, and co-created with, Nina Garthwaite from In The Dark and Eleanor McDowall from Falling Tree

Fieldwork
A residency for artists, curators, writers, and desigers that unfolded in Mumbai and Goa in late-2019. Co-created with Razia Jordan, Avinash Kumar, Rohan Patankar, and Jonathan May, Fieldwork was fuelled by a desire to surface alternative and parallel practices of artistic production.

(un)common outcomes
 
An exhibition brought together with Eva Louisa Jonas, Ezra Evans and our fellow peer matters artists - as part of the Photoworks Weekender. A collaboratively-shaped thing that emerged through a series of online conversations, often late into the night. It took the form of two parallel parts: a constellation of discrete works by fifteen photographic artists; and an ever-changing weave of images, sketchbook pages, notes, test prints and more.
